Poly (-14) vs. Compton
So Compton CAN lose. I didn’t think I’d ever see the day. The Tarbabes went down in a heartbreaker on a last minute touchdown last week against Millikan. But I’m putting Compton officially on the NOT WORRIED list. They proved they can run the football on anybody and that goes a long way when it comes to playoff time.
I think Poly head football coach Stephen Barbee has been listening to our podcast because he’s realized that playing to your strengths is a good thing. Pound the rock and let the big bodies up front dominate the game. But what do I know about Poly? I didn’t beat them in 2009 or anything…
Snoop Dogg once told me and I quote, “Compton and Long Beach together, now you know you in trouble.” It’s often forgotten that Snoop Dogg went to Poly High School and he, in fact, knows that this matchup is ALWAYS close.

Here’s where I’m at…Poly prides itself on picking the ball off and returning it to the house for six. Kejuan Markham literally has 12 of those this season. But that’s hard to do when the ball is handed off every play. Wing-T – you get it.
It’ll be a close one, but the Jackrabbits win it. Take Compton +14 though because Niles Hibbert will have two TD’s, at least. If he doesn’t I’ll formally apologize to Stephen Barbee on Shoot Your Shot. Poly 28 Compton 20.
Cabrillo vs. Jordan (-3.5)
Dog Fight of the Week right here – figuratively speaking though because PETA is always listening. Also figuratively speaking because Jaguars and Panthers are part of the cat family. Blake Bortles vs. Bagheera.

Both teams are a bit thin right now, but they’re coming off big losses so you know they’ll be hungry. This will be a backyard brawl – some old school playground football. I like Jordan because of their the playmakers that can create plays out of nothing. Quarterback Anthony Scott and running back Deshon Harris will do something to pull away in this game.
Take Jordan to cover 3.5 points, including a touchdown for Isaac White. Expect a big day out of Cabrillo’s Roger McMillan. He’ll have the lone Jaguar score. Jordan 27 Cabrillo 7.
Lakewood vs. Wilson (-7.5)
Wilson travels to Lakewood this week in what has become a big-time rivalry the last few years. Wilson quarterback Ryan Pettway once said, “I’ve hated Lakewood since I was a 4-year-old.” There are a lot of people that might agree with you, Ryan.
He was also quoted as saying, “I don’t like the Lakewood Mall because it’s always crowded and Round One isn’t that fun. I’d rather shop in Cerritos.” I may have made that up, but you understand the animosity.
